Australian travellers warned: Christmas in July, or not at all
| Australian travellers looking to head
overseas this Christmas are being urged to book their
flights sooner rather than later to avoid fare hikes or
missing out completely due to strong demand. A sustained increase in bookings and searches for travel over Christmas has urged many travel agents to issue the warning. During July, the company witnessed a 25 percent month-on-month increase in Christmas-period bookings and searches. "While we cannot predict with 100 percent accuracy the future of airfare prices, we can forecast that if demand remains at its current level, it's extremely likely that the airlines will be able to reach full capacity and thus charge more for seats as the Christmas season approaches". All-inclusive holiday packages were already nearing peak occupancy levels with perennial hot spots Fiji, Bali and Thailand. By booking as early as possible, travellers ensure the best prices as well as affording themselves flexibility in terms of travel dates, airline choice and travel routes. "If you are planning on going away over the Christmas break and find a great travel bargain, snap it up now - because by the time you go back a week later to check the price, chances are the airfare has increased or the holiday package has no availability on your travel dates." Top selling destinations for Christmas are: London, Bali, Fiji, Thailand and Hawaii. |
